EMPLOYMENT VERIFICATION DATA FEE CHANGE FOR “THE WORK NUMBER” EFFECTIVE 09-01-2023

For those of you who are familiar with employment verifications, The Work Number (TWN) (owned and operated by Equifax) is one of the largest, most popular employment data clearinghouses selected by employers. SSC has recently been notified of a fee change that will go into effect on 9/1/2023 to accommodate their significant investments for adding records.  TWN will increase its price to a flat rate of $109 per verified match. This means that every employment that is matched to the data in their system will include a fee of $109. This is the sole source of employment verification data for the companies that outsource their verification service with TWN.

Please note: TWN’s fee increases are not SSC price changes. SSC’s base pricing structure remains the same. These fees are passed through from the third party systems and they are added on a per search basis.

We recognize that over the last several years these types of third-party employment verifier sites have regularly increased their rates. Specifically, the rate increases of TWN are an industry-wide challenge and continue to impact employers nationwide. SSC is continuing to review alternative technologies to support the need for this type of data.

If you’re not already aware, SSC offers an alternative employment service that may be of interest to consider - SSC “Enhanced Verification Service”.

SSC’s Enhanced Verification Service is another option to help our clients corroborate a candidate’s employment history.  Essentially SSC takes on the responsibility of communicating with and collecting documents from your candidates (such as paystubs, W-2, W-9 documents) to help support their employment history. For additional information and pricing on SSC’s Enhanced Verification services, please contact Maribeth Martino at 203-925-6192, mmartino@smgcorporateservices.com. Please note that your account will default/continue with your current verification method until directed differently.
